27Bethlehem was led by the Holy Spirit to begin a ministry in the growing town of Rome. From the beginning this mission has been a part of Bethlehem’s ministry, as we say “one church, two locations.”

Our goal has been to equip the saints here for ministry as we grow together in the love of Jesus; but also a major emphasis is to reach many unchurched in the Rome community with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus our purpose statement: “To know Christ and to make Him known.”

God has blessed us with numerical and spiritual growth. Beginning with 20+ in attendance, we now average over 100 per Sunday. Two Ladies’ Bible Fellowships share the Word, pray, worship, and bless one another; one on Monday evenings and the other on Wednesday mornings.

outdoor serviceOur church services are in the Rome Town Hall (13 and “D”) at 9:30 A.M. From mid May to mid September we worship outdoors
under the trees on the Town Hall lawn. Since summer time sees many weekenders in the area, our numbers really swell those months. What a wonderful opportunity to “Make Him known!”

A major focus for us is to reach more people for Jesus, and many of the new people have been invited by our “regulars” as they also have caught that outreach vision. Below is a list of some of the events we sponsor, praying that the Holy Spirit will use them to lead people to know and follow Jesus:

“God Bless America” Sunday: Memorial Day weekend we have the local VFW present a gun salute and flag presentation as we honor those who have given their lives for our country. Everyone is given an American flag and a patriotic gift. Veterans are honored as each military branch gathers under their flag to their song. Great music and a patriotic message is shared. This has become the largest annual gathering in Rome.

Gospel Concerts: We bring in Gospel singing groups to impact those living in our area with the Good News of Jesus through music.

Snowbird Newsletter Since between 30 and 40 of our regular attenders are “down south” during our cold Wisconsin months, we keep in touch with prayer requests, information, etc.

Celebrate Christmas Early: The Sunday before Christmas is our “Christmas Celebration.” Since many of our people are out of town on Christmas with family and friends, this has become an early Christmas that draws many to celebrate the birth of the Savior.
